Earth Day - The One Thing We Need More Than Hope is Action

“The one thing we need more than hope is action. Once we start to act, hope is everywhere.”

Greta Thunberg

Combat climate change by getting involved in Earth Day on April 22nd when world leaders discuss what we can do to prevent the coming disasters of climate change and environmental destruction around the globe.

“Every one of us needs a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health & survival, and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity.”

One of the main topics of this year’s event is how to fight climate change with diet change and how our food print measures the environmental impacts associated with the growing, producing, transporting, and storing of our food – from the natural resources consumed to the pollution produced to the greenhouse gases emitted. As we work towards reducing our food print there are many factors that influence individuals on their choice of food. At The Postal Pantry Co we hope to make it easier to select more sustainable options and adapt to a diet that will make a positive impact on our planet.

Plant-based foods are one of the easiest ways to help the climate crisis. They use far fewer natural resources and create far less pollution.

Plant Based Dairy Options

Choosing plant-based milk is an easy way to become kinder to our planet. Plant milk is the top-selling product of all plant-based meat and dairy alternatives with estimates that over a third of UK households are now buying dairy free alternatives. In the past most consumers choose dairy free for dietary reasons, but now many choose them for sustainability.

Protein Alternatives

Its easy to keep up a balanced diet with plant-based alternatives and plant protein requires 20 times less land and 6 times less water than beef farming. Reducing consumption of animal products delivers environmental benefits.

High protein foods keep you full for longer so include some in your diet – Beans, pulses, whole-grains, oats, nuts and seeds are all great sources of protein and easy to add to your diet.

Respect The Planet

By choosing a more plant-based diet you are respecting the planet and living in harmony with it. You take only what you need and leave the rest behind. Our collective food choices could have a big impact on the climate crisis, reducing greenhouse gases at the same time as improving the health of the nation and our future legacy.
